Candle Care Guide

A clean burn begins before the match. Four small habits protect the wax, the vessel, and the scent throw — so each candle lasts as long as it was made to.

  1. Trim the wick to 6 mm

Before every burn. A trimmed wick keeps the flame controlled, prevents soot from blackening the vessel, and stops the wax from tunneling. Use a wick trimmer or sharp scissors. If you forget once, blow out the flame and trim before relighting.

  2. Let the first burn reach the edge

The first burn sets the memory. Leave the candle lit for at least two hours on its first use — long enough for the wax surface to melt evenly to the wall of the vessel. Skip this step and every future burn will tunnel down the centre.

  3. Pause after four hours

Never burn longer than four hours in a single session. Extinguish, let the wax cool for at least two hours, and relight later if you want. This protects the fragrance oils from over-heating and keeps the vessel comfortable to handle.

  4. Retire with 10 mm of wax left

When the wax pool drops below ten millimeters, retire the candle. Burning lower can damage the vessel and risks the wick falling. Clean the empty vessel with warm soapy water — it makes a beautiful holder for matches, brushes, or small flowers.
