The Evening Reset

A weeknight ritual: dim every overhead light, trim the wick to six millimeters, and light one candle thirty minutes before the first screen-free hour. Choose a fragrance with depth — oud, leather, or smoked vanilla — and let it unfold slowly. The room becomes a different room. The trick is consistency, not ceremony.

Layering Scents Without Clashing

Two candles in one room is a small art. Pair gourmand notes (vanilla, caramel) with woods (sandalwood, cedar) for cold-weather warmth. Pair florals (jasmine, rose) with soft vanilla for calm rooms. Avoid mixing two strong top notes — pick one as the lead and let the other support. Place them at least three meters apart so their warmth zones don't compete.

Seasonal Rotation, Kept Simple

Keep one bright candle near daytime spaces — kitchen, hallway, entryway — and one deeper candle for evening rooms. Rotate them at the equinox. The contrast makes both feel more intentional, and the deeper scents land harder when they are reserved for night. Two candles, two times of day, the rest of the house left quiet.
